Dear friends,
This is my 1st blog. I have tried to express my thoughts earlier once in the form of a diary but not to much success. Although I have attempted to pen down my thoughts and feelings in the form of a letter to a selected specials in my life, but never in an open forum as this. I have read a couple of posts of Pooja and I must admit that she expresses pretty well. While reading them I had always wanted to express myself too, but it required a push from her to start. So this being 1st one, I would dedicate this to her.
After much deliberation about my 1st topic I decided to choose a familiar one which is being discussed in every drawing room these days….. PATRIOTISM….. The anniversary of 26/11 is nearing and so is the intensity of becoming a PATRIOT by every INDIAN. I would not go into the minutes of the term itself assuming that everyone reading this post is very well educated and realizes the meaning of the word on his own.
This being my diary, I will express my own thoughts.. Couple of years back while in school, patriotism had a different meaning all together. Being a product of Military School, Patriotism meant being in uniform and serving the nation with arms.. The thoughts have not changed much as I went on to become a man in uniform. After almost 9 years of my service, I still feel the same but with a minor difference.. It is not whether you are in uniform or not, if you are doing a job by which one or a million INDIANS are affected in a better way, you deserve to be called a PATRIOT. Saying this I recollect a dialogue from the movie ‘Lakshya’ which conveys “Agar tum scientist ho magar ache nahi ho to kya fayada, ghas katne wala bano aur acha ghas kato to koi baat hai”. The dialogue written here may be a bit different but the meaning is conveyed in toto. Whether you are a doctor, engineer, businessman, scientist, economist, farmer, homemaker, sarpanch, policeman, researcher, developer, or anything and if you are doing your job in a manner befitting your designation, you are helping the nation grow….
As in our country where Patriotism is talked about only on occasions, I would request everyone to rededicate themselves to the nation and help the nation grow strong internally and externally. If everyone goes by the thought the minor social evils in likes of corruption etc will automatically vanish….
